Elizabeth Mackinnon
Elizabeth MacKinnon creates, performs and teaches dance and improvisation with a strong focus on interdisciplinarity and collaboration. Artistic co-director of collective (gulp) dance projects with Alexis Kate Andrew (http://www.collectivegulp.com), she creates works that are simultaneously achingly brainy and touchingly funny. Elizabeth has performed and participated in numerous solo and collaborative works with various artists in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Philadelphia and the UK. She has also designed technology and video elements for Propeller Dance (http://www.propellerdance.com), an integrated dance company for people with and without disabilities and has taught introductory workshops on media art history and software for artists at Artengine, in Ottawa. A graduate of Concordia University (BFA) in Montreal and the University of Hull (MA) UK, she currently teaches contact improvisation and modern dance, as well as Kripalu, Hatha and Restorative yoga. She is excited to be part of the EMERGE International Artist Residency in Massachusetts in February 2013.
