A Maine girl at heart, Kate Speer has made a home at the base of the Rockies in Denver, CO. Balancing life as an artist and arts administrator, she crafts performance work while tending to the wellbeing and heart beat of dance makers and nonprofit organizations. When tapping into the creative spirit, she merges theatrical storytelling with athletic, momentum-based movement in order to engage the audience’s visceral and emotional capacities. As a performer, she is addicted to that live moment in performance; there’s an electricity in the skin when there is a witness. It is that level of aliveness, connectedness, and being-ness with you that communicates generosity.
