Mary Chase Doll
Mary Chase Doll
Most famously known in the medical field as the life sized mannequin, the Mary Chase Doll was first used in hospitals and nursing programs in 1908 to assist with the training of clinicians and nurses. So in some bizarre realm of existence, I come by this work rather naturally. Currently, I am in my breathing (non-mannequin) body. I split my role as an artist and clinician at The Clinic with teaching and creating dance while holding up the fort at home as mom and wife. My work is about my life, not the big moments-- but the details, the things we all experience in our own way captured through movement. We breathe, we love, we agonize, we cry, we laugh. Making art about being present in these moments is my greatest gift and greatest challenge. I hope you find something at The Clinic that is meaningful. We are all here to learn from each other.
